Today, January 31st, is National Plan For Vacation Day! We have the perfect destination: Mackinac Island!

If you are planning your 2023 trip to Mackinac Island, here are some great tips for your visit:

Want to come for the first weekend that Little Luxuries is open? Make plans to stay on Mackinac April 28th! We open at 10 AM - the store will be stocked full of the cutest new goodies and finds for the new season.

Want to come during Lilac Festival? The 2023 dates for the festival are June 9th - June 18th. If you want more information, head to the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau for all the updates: https://www.mackinacisland.org/mackinac-island-lilac-festival-3/

Planning to visit for the Yacht Races? Be sure to go ahead and book your hotel reservations now as the island is very busy! Dates for both Yacht Races and more information can be found here: https://www.mackinacisland.org/annual-island-events/

If you’re looking for a great place to stay when visiting Mackinac, here are some of our favorite spots to stay:

Above Mackinac Condos: This is the perfect place is you are coming for a longer stay and with a larger group. These condos are located above Doud’s Market and Good Day Cafe. There are just three condos available, so if you want to book, visit https://www.abovemackinaccondos.com.

The Mackinac House: The Mackinac House is located on Market Street, behind Main Street. We love this newer boutique hotel! The large front porch is ideal for enjoying a quiet continental breakfast or just relaxing with the family while taking in the clip-clop of the famous horse-drawn buggies passing by.

If you’re visiting with kids, maybe consider a hotel with a pool! The Grand Hotel, Mission Point Resort, Chippewa, Lake View Hotel, Murray Hotel are a few of the hotels on the island with a pool.

While you’re on the island, here are some of our favorite spots to visit with kids!

The Butterfly House: This is the 1st butterfly museum of its kind in Michigan + the 3rd oldest live butterfly museum in the United States! It’s definitely a spot to visit while on the island for true beauty and color!

Fort Mackinac: Step back in time and learn about so much history - for you and the kids! The boys love to visit Fort Mackinac - we probably go almost weekly! It’s a great spot to always have fun and learn more about our island’s history.

Cannonball: The Cannonball is located at British Landing and is the perfect spot for a lunch treat on your 8.2 mile bike ride! It’s a fun spot to grab lunch, skip rocks and enjoy the Mackinac sunshine!

Mission Point Putt Putt Golfing: Want to go putt putt golfing while watching Freighters go by? Mission Point is the spot to be! We sometimes take the boys at night when it’s glow in the dark putt putt - it’s so much fun!

There are countless other places to stay, spots to eat at and adventures to be had when visiting Mackinac! This is just a short list! If you really want to see what it’s like to live on the island, be sure to read more of my blog here or follow me on instagram where I share daily life on Mackinac!
