The Artists Market of Mackinac just welcomed a new artist to the shop, so it’s time to introduce them on Maker Monday!
Cityscapes started when Jess, the owner, was a lifeguard in inner-city Cincinnati. She started to capture the architecture and heart of her city after her shifts at work. Now for over 15 years, she has been documenting the change and helping to remember the history of the city where she lives and other cities around the United State and the world. She says “I’ve found that thinking ‘local,’ like my tiles, both honors and transcends the places we call “home.” All of the tiles are fashioned into black and white, making them very nostalgic.
Jess was able to come to Mackinac Island and capture some of the most iconic scenes and then create them into beautiful tiles for you to take home with you! Some of the views she was able to document include icons like Fort Mackinac, Arch Rock, St. Anne’s, Doud’s Market and Pink Pony. She also captured tandem bike riders, the view form M-185 and more memorable moments.
We hope that you enjoy these beautiful handmade tiles of our happy place!
Will these be avaliable to purchase online?
