Can you believe that winter is almost over? We are ready for the snow to be gone, but can't believe it's almost time to re-open the shops!
This winter on Mackinac Island has been one for the books because of all the snow accumulation and frigid temps! My husband, Andrew has been commuting back and forth to Mackinac Island via the ice bridge. While this is never a safe way to travel, thankfully this year it has been exceptionally smooth. During the winter, in order to keep Doud's Market stocked, Andrew will meet the trucks from downstate Michigan in St. Ignace. After that, they unload the truck, just to reload all the products onto a trailer, pulled via snowmobile to the island. It's not a simple process and takes many, many hours. But, no one goes hungry on the island! I've included some pictures below for you to get an idea of just what the process looks like! I've also included a few pictures of our family crossing the ice bridge.
John is 4 months old, already! To escape the winter, we just went on a family vacation before the busy summer season starts! This was our first big road trip as a family of 5. We went to North Carolina and were excited to explore a new place as a family. If you want to see some pictures from our trip, check out my Instagram page!
