One year ago today, islanders were crossing the 'ice bridge' from St. Ignace, MI to Mackinac Island. This winter, unfortunately, it has not been cold enough to make an ice bridge. For workers and locals, the ice bridge is very convenient to come and go anytime of the day (weather permitting) and for hauling things across.
If you have never experienced the ice bridge to Mackinac, you should definitely consider putting it on your bucket list. On a clear day, the views are beyond stunning...it feels a little magical and surreal.
We will wait and hope for a 2017 ice bridge!
