Rainy Days on Mackinac Island

Posted by Nicole Doud on

Rainy days on Mackinac don't have to be disappointing! Living here, we know the tricks of what to explore on Mackinac during those rainy, dreary days. Here are a few of our family's go to's with kids!
Butterfly House: Stop in to see over 1,000 butterflies! It's the perfect stop on a rainy day - you still feel like you are outside because of all the nature! Located on McGulpin Street, it's just a short walk from downtown.

Watercolor Cafe: We love Watercolor Cafe regardless of the weather. Watercolor Cafe sits at the edge of Mackinac Island Marina. There are art supplies for you and your family to enjoy while watching the rain come down through all the beautiful windows! This is one of our favorite spots - we visit Watercolor Cafe a lot during the season!

Mackinac Island Library: The library is one of our favorite stops on rainy days! Grab a book and sit down to read a new book. We love to look out the windows and see the view from Windermere Point. It's a great spot the entire family will love.

Grand Hotel: Explore the Grand Hotel's Porch on a rainy day, plus stop in to see the different shops! It does cost to go on the Grand Hotel's Porch, but on a rainy day, it's an amazing spot to relax!

Spa Day at Mission Point Resort: On a girl's trip? Plan a spa day at Mission Point! This is such a luxurious experience - definitely the perfect way to beat the rainy day blues!

Head to The Woods: Take a taxi up to The Woods, bowl at their little bowling alley, and then hang out at Bobby's Bar for the afternoon! If you've never been up to The Woods Restaurant, you need to add it to itinerary for your next Mackinac Island trip!

If the rain snuck up on you, make sure you go to Doud's Market to grab an umbrella or poncho for your rainy day activities! We also hope that you'll plan to stop in and shop at Little Luxuries. We are open daily, May - October, regardless of the weather!
