As Lilac Festival 2018 comes to a close, we wanted to show you some of our favorite highlights from the past week! Many great events were hosted and the lilac trees were in full bloom which made for a beautiful view around the whole island! Our lilac products here at Little Luxuries were hot items, seeing how quickly they sold throughout the two weeks. Take a peak at some fun times below!
Local artist, Kate Dupre from Kate Creates, displayed her artwork on Tuesday, the 12th. She specializes in graphic design and drawing. When Kate brings both of those passions together, her colorful prints are created and they are a perfect fit in Little Luxuries as well as our brother store, Canvas and Paddle!
On Thursday, June 14th, the annual Taste of Mackinac was held at the Community Hall on Market Street. The weather was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the crowd was having a great time! Local restaurants featured amazing appetizers and beer and wine vendors poured Michigan craft beer and Michigan wines. Taste of Mackinac is a favorite event during the festival, bringing not only visitors, but locals too.
Above are pictures from Little Luxuries' own Michigan Beer Sampling event which was held within our store on Thursday, June 14th. This event lasted for two hours and brought in great crowds of customers, the store was packed and we loved every minute of it! Michael from Saugatuck Brewing Co. and Kyle from Arbor Brewing Company (shown above) entertained the customers with free samples and interesting beer facts. Even our own staff was able to try a couple flavors!
Pictured above are the creative minds behind a well-loved company at our sister store, The Artists Market. Kyle and Courtney Harmon, a husband and wife team, visited the store on Sunday, June 17th, to display their beautiful pieces and work on a painting to show our customers. They own a storefront in downtown Cadillac called Barn Social and creatively hand-screen print and hand paint popular quotes, bible versus, and images with recycled barn wood for each frame. They are amazing pieces created by hand.
Mackinac Island finished off Lilac Festival 2018 with a wonderful parade on Sunday, June 17th, starting at Mission Point and ending at Windermere Point. Three of our retail associates beautifully represented Little Luxuries, Artists Market, and Canvas and Paddle! It is always so much fun to watch the whole island come together for this awesome event!
