It sure feels good to BE OPEN! ✨
In January I thought, it’s going to be simple to get the store reopened again in the spring. We kept getting product in throughout the winter for the online store which makes spring time a little easier not starting from scratch with inventory.
Then I decided to have all of our white shelving repainted with a special lacquer paint that could only be sprayed on. The majority of the store had to be packed up and covered.
THEN I decided to change things up! Let’s switch the baby section to the front of the store, the accessory section to the middle and get new clothing displays + more little changes. We had a last minute change in staffing and by April 7th I had one full time employee starting and I could barely put in a 5 hour day because of commuting on the ‘winter boat’ from St. Ignace to the island weekly.
Going back + forth a lot + making our schedule work between Andrew + I + the boys’ schedule; it’s been a dizzy month. I now have three full time employees + some part time help + all three shops are open again as of today! Yay! By mid May, more employees will be arriving + our hours will be extended!
All I can say is, you would think it gets easier entering my 13th year of business. 😆 A seasonal business is full of roller coasters! That’s what keeps owning a business exciting + feeling brand new each new season. ✨I am so thankful for the hard work my team has given the last three weeks.
