A few weeks ago on social media, I did a fun Q + A! These were questions submitted by Instagram followers and I wanted to share my answers here for those who do not have Instagram!
Doud Boys
Where are your boys starting school? The boys go to school at St. Francis in Petoskey!
Fort Mackinac
What’s October like on Mackinac? How late does stuff (hotels, the fort, stay “open”?  Weekends in October are normally very busy. This fall, we are not sure what it will be like. Most of the hotels and Fort Mackinac are closing October 25th. Personally, I think Fall is a great time to visit!
Mackinac at Sunset
What area of the island do you live in? And do you live there year round?  We live close to town and we do not live here year round anymore. We spend half the year in Petoskey. We lived on the island for ten years and my husband is from the island. We love Mackinac and Petoskey.
Mackinac Island
Do the island crowds seem to be normal sized this year? The crowds seem very similar to past years. Some days are slower and some are busier. We are very thankful for the business this summer and for everyone who still decided to visit Mackinac Island.
Mackinac Bath & Body
What’s your favorite product in the shop? There’s a lot that I love! But to narrow it down to one item or product line, it would be the Mackinac Bath and Body line. I love the hand cream and room / body spray.
Mackinac Island
What led you to opening a shop on the island? Such a dream! The opportunity came back in 2009. I was looking for a “career” on the island. The storefront was for lease so I jumped on it and took the risk. It was the best decision. It’s been a fun, adventurous ride.

Nicole Doud's Fall Favorites

A few months ago, I shared some things that I was loving for summer, including some summer decor and cute new shirts! If you missed it, read the blog post here.
Now, I’m sharing some things that I found for the new fall season that I am excited about!
With the new fall season rapidly approaching, I know that I’ll want to cook more! I recently purchased these two cookbooks:
Real Life Dinners by Rachel Hollis: The title alone sold me! The book has over 80 recipes that are going to fit right in the the chaotic and busy season that all working Moms find themselves in! With the boys going back to school, the shops still open, etc. easy dinners are just what our family needs! I’m excited to dig into this new cookbook! I’ll be sure to update you and share my favorites once I’ve started using it!
Magnolia Table, Volume 2: You all know how much I love Joanna Gaines! I’ve been so busy with the summer rush, that I never purchased Magnolia Table Volume 2 when it came out in April. So I recently ordered it here.
I’m super excited to get into this book! Have you made anything out of this book? If so, do you have a favorite I should start with? There are 145 recipes in this new edition, so tell me where I should start! I love flipping through a beautiful cookbook, so I am super excited about this one!
This dress comes in six colors and is versatile for work and for date night! I ordered the black, but if I love it, I might go back and order a few more in the other colors! It is lightweight and doesn’t have to be dry cleaned, which is a huge plus!
Have you ever shopped Amazon for your clothes? If so, what are some of your favorites? I would love to know!
If you know me, you know I love natural ways of staying healthy! With fall coming quickly and the boys going back to school, I stocked up on Elderberry Syrup to keep our immune systems strong!
These are just a few things that I am loving for the upcoming fall season. I’m excited to hear if there are other cookbooks you love or other Amazon fashions that you’ve found you can’t live without!
XO,
Nicole

Allison is from Bay City, Michigan! Her favorite product is at the Artists Market of Mackinac Island: Peach Tree Lane. These necklaces are dainty and the perfect addition to any outfit! When asked about her summer bucket list / goal while living on the island she said: “Everything! I wanna explore as many of the trails as I can!"

We’re SO excited to have Hannah back this year working at The Artists Market of Mackinac Island! Hannah is from East Lansing, Michigan. She loves the Barn Social signs at The Artists Market. Fun Fact: These signs are made in Michigan! Her goal for this summer is to live slow and spend every moment possible outside.

Meet Marea, who is back for her second summer at Canvas and Paddle! If you stop into Canvas and Paddle, Marea will be there to greet you with a smile! Marea is from Rogers City, MI. She loves all the vintage products that can be found in the Canvas and Paddle shop. Her goal while working at the shop this summer is to meet someone from every state!

Meet Bry, who is back for her 3rd summer on Mackinac Island! Her favorite products are the candles from Milk Reclamation Barn. They are new this season and caught her eye immediately on her first day back in the shop! She love the idea of repurposing a glass milk bottle into a yummy smelling candle! This has been something that has been on my bucket list every summer and it’s about time I get out on the water!"
