We are SO excited to announce our new collection, The Happy Collection! ✨✨✨

In the fall, as our season was winding down, I thought how can I bring more joy to others through my shop? As we all experienced a tough year, it seemed appropriate to create a line of goods that spread kindness + happiness.

Right away I got busy planning. I chose local artist, Kate Dupre, owner of Kate Creates + Watercolor Cafe on Mackinac Island to design four uplifting sayings. Kate was delighted to help and I was excited to work with her on this fun project.

Today, four different t-shirt designs are NOW AVAILABLE on the website! Best part, the t-shirts are printed in Michigan, they are designed locally and sold on beautiful Mackinac Island.

We will be adding more fun products to The Happy Collection over the next few weeks. I hope you enjoy the start of this fun, new collection!

Nicole Doud & Jenna Kator

Nicole Doud and Jenna Kator

Today, I wanted to share how I met Jenna! Jenna and I first met when we were both starting our businesses’. I was looking for a handbag line that would fit in at Little Luxuries and Jenna was just starting her business, the Jenna Kator Collection. Our business relationship quickly grew into a friendship and I count her as one of my dear friends. A few years ago, we created the custom Island Girl Handbag, that was only sold at Little Luxuries. This bag was for the Island Girl in all of us and had the perfect attachment to your bike handles. While this bag is no longer in production, it was such a joy to create that handbag with Jenna.

While Jenna mostly names her handbags for different cities around Michigan, this fall collection honors different areas and their zip codes. We have been sharing in our Instagram stories this week some of the bags, but I wanted to take a minute here to show off a few of the handbags from this Fall Collection that we are loving.

906 Crossbody: 906 is the area code for Mackinac Island and the Upper Peninsula! Michigan’s Upper Peninsula presents attractions unmatched anywhere else, there are no words to explain the rugged, pristine beauty of the 906 region. Being hands free to explore is no problem with this 906 Crossbody that is just as beautiful and adventurous as the region.

A few weeks ago on social media, I did a fun Q + A! These were questions submitted by Instagram followers and I wanted to share my answers here for those who do not have Instagram!
Doud Boys
Where are your boys starting school? The boys go to school at St. Francis in Petoskey!
Fort Mackinac
What’s October like on Mackinac? How late does stuff (hotels, the fort, stay “open”?  Weekends in October are normally very busy. This fall, we are not sure what it will be like. Most of the hotels and Fort Mackinac are closing October 25th. Personally, I think Fall is a great time to visit!
Mackinac at Sunset
What area of the island do you live in? And do you live there year round?  We live close to town and we do not live here year round anymore. We spend half the year in Petoskey. We lived on the island for ten years and my husband is from the island. We love Mackinac and Petoskey.
Mackinac Island
Do the island crowds seem to be normal sized this year? The crowds seem very similar to past years. Some days are slower and some are busier. We are very thankful for the business this summer and for everyone who still decided to visit Mackinac Island.
Mackinac Bath & Body
What’s your favorite product in the shop? There’s a lot that I love! But to narrow it down to one item or product line, it would be the Mackinac Bath and Body line. I love the hand cream and room / body spray.
Mackinac Island
What led you to opening a shop on the island? Such a dream! The opportunity came back in 2009. I was looking for a “career” on the island. The storefront was for lease so I jumped on it and took the risk. It was the best decision. It’s been a fun, adventurous ride.

Nicole Doud's Fall Favorites

A few months ago, I shared some things that I was loving for summer, including some summer decor and cute new shirts! If you missed it, read the blog post here.
Now, I’m sharing some things that I found for the new fall season that I am excited about!
With the new fall season rapidly approaching, I know that I’ll want to cook more! I recently purchased these two cookbooks:
Real Life Dinners by Rachel Hollis: The title alone sold me! The book has over 80 recipes that are going to fit right in the the chaotic and busy season that all working Moms find themselves in! With the boys going back to school, the shops still open, etc. easy dinners are just what our family needs! I’m excited to dig into this new cookbook! I’ll be sure to update you and share my favorites once I’ve started using it!
Magnolia Table, Volume 2: You all know how much I love Joanna Gaines! I’ve been so busy with the summer rush, that I never purchased Magnolia Table Volume 2 when it came out in April. So I recently ordered it here.
I’m super excited to get into this book! Have you made anything out of this book? If so, do you have a favorite I should start with? There are 145 recipes in this new edition, so tell me where I should start! I love flipping through a beautiful cookbook, so I am super excited about this one!
This dress comes in six colors and is versatile for work and for date night! I ordered the black, but if I love it, I might go back and order a few more in the other colors! It is lightweight and doesn’t have to be dry cleaned, which is a huge plus!
Have you ever shopped Amazon for your clothes? If so, what are some of your favorites? I would love to know!
If you know me, you know I love natural ways of staying healthy! With fall coming quickly and the boys going back to school, I stocked up on Elderberry Syrup to keep our immune systems strong!
These are just a few things that I am loving for the upcoming fall season. I’m excited to hear if there are other cookbooks you love or other Amazon fashions that you’ve found you can’t live without!
XO,
Nicole
