World Ice + Snow Sailing Championships

The world ice and snow sailing championships are being held right now in St. Ignace, MI!! The event began yesterday, February 20th and goes through February 26th.  For the first time in 17 years this event is held in the USA, and even better, in small town St. Ignace, MI! This event draws competitors to the ice and snow.  WISSA is the ONLY world event where wings, kites and sails all compete together on snow or ice, slalom and course. This event, which is the oldest event its type, will be celebrated for 32nd time right here in the United States. Take a look at the WISSA website and PureMI website to learn more.

Snowy Afternoon on Mackinac

This week it snowed on and off.  At one moment it felt like we were living in a snowglobe and the next it was warming up and the beautiful snow was melting.  It has been one crazy winter for Northern Michigan! At least we have a few inches to enjoy.  Penny Lane and I had fun walking through the woods during one of the really snowy moments this week.  Our dogs LOVE the snow!  Don’t worry, Charlie gets walks too, it just happened to be really snowing when I was walking Penny, so she got the snapshots!

Hope your weekend is a happy, enjoyable one!  If you have snow where you are – enjoy it! If you have sunshine and warmth – soak it all in!

Prayers for Peter

A little boy from my hometown of St. Johns, MI needs many, many extra prayers.  At only 7 months-old, doctor’s found a spot on Peter’s brain. Since then, they have had regular check-ups at the University of Michigan.  Recently, Peter has been sick on and off.  An MRI showed that the spot has spread quite quickly, and it has spread to his spinal cord.  The tumor is cancerous, but at this moment they do not know which cancer it is – the curable kind or not. The two cancers are both treatable.  Doctors perfumed a very long surgery on Peter yesterday at UofM.  Now they have to wait for the swelling to go down to begin chemo and find out which cancer it is.

This happy, strong little boy needs many, many prayers and much love sent to him and his family.  I kindly ask that you put Peter and his family on your prayer list and in your thoughts.  He has a bright and happy future ahead of him! Much faith, hope and love is sent to Peter and his family.

A facebook event was created for Peter, “Prayers for Peter.”  Copy and paste this in your URL to view the event. http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/257186757689910/

Love + prayers,

Local Pastry Shop in Chicago

Just staring at these sprinkle- coated cake balls makes me hungry for something sweet! Cake Balls will do the trick! They seem to be the new hot item in bakeries lately.  When I was in Chicago last month I visited a newer bakery I have never been to called the Bleeding Heart Bakery.  It was spacious inside with a cafe area to sit down and order off a menu or stand in line to order something sweet to go.  I am so glad I stopped by.  I picked out 4 cake balls, and gosh, they were better then a piece of cake! (even though it is cake inside!) Bleeding Heart Bakery uses natural ingredients from local farms and people that share the same love that they do.  They use sustainable goods and organic ingredients to produce awesome baked goods such as detailed cakes, pastries and many other yummy delights!

Next time you are in Chicago stop by BHB to try out their awesome baked goods! You won’t be disappointed!
